Supervises undergraduate research in mathematics and business and periodically coaches the intercollegiate mathematics team. Revitalized Koalaty Kid, a school improvement program, at Raymond F. Brnades Elementary School, supported by a minigrant from the Center for Excellence in the Leadership of Learning (CELL). Has written innovative course materials for process improvement in the classroom, and built business analysis tools in EXCEL. Has implemented writing across the curriculum in business and statistics classes and has produced numerous student paper competition winners including the 1999 international winner in the Fogarty memorial student paper competition sponsored by APICS. Has written the Criterion Two chapter of the University of Indianapolis self-study in preparation for the decennial accreditation visit of the North Central Association (1997). Developed EXCEL tool to generate statistical reports from customer survey data.

Evaluated mixed linear/integer programming models to optimize schedule of new product development. Developed simulation with heuristic optimization (tabu search, genetic algorithm) software to schedule the new product development process. Developed user-friendly EXCEL interfaces for the software. Updated existing simulation models.

Designed activity-based costing capabilities for simulation software; implemented synchronous manufacturing capabilities in a simulation-based scheduling system for a batch process industry; developed integration of finite capacity scheduling software with a shop floor data management system; conducted market research on MRP II systems; conducted benchmark testing of software; modeled manufacturing facilities for design analysis studies.

GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana (January 1987 to December 1988)

Discovered a unique decomposition of minimally 3-connected graphs and polynomially solved the minimum weight cycle problem (NP-hard for graphs in general) for graphs decomposable into wheels with C.R. Coullard and D.K. Wagner as part of the University Research Initiative in Computational Combinatorics supported by the Office of Naval Research.

Taught high school chemistry and mathematics and junior high mathematics; wrote math tutorial programs and games on a microcomputer to assist students in learning; completely inventoried badly neglected high school chemistry lab and disposed of hazardous chemicals with assistance from the Vincennes University Chemistry Department and the state toxicologist; coached high school volleyball team.
